In the spring of 2005 the Firestarters of Middletown High School began as a club sport coached by history teacher Trevor Charles. Having played ultimate in college, Coach Charles saw the sport as a natural fit for Middletown students seeking an alternative to traditional spring sports.  Currently a varsity program in their fifth year of competition, the Firestarters have quickly gained a reputation as a program of uncompromising standards, dedication, and skill. They compete in the Connecticut High School Ultimate League (CTUL).
